Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, the passage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers under Qatar’s control through the Strait of Hormuz continues.
According to sea-news.az citing ship-tracking companies such as Kpler and LSEG, the LNG tanker “Al Daayen,” operated by QatarEnergy, was spotted off the coast of Qatar on June 4–5 and later detected in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel is currently reported to be heading toward China.
The tanker was loaded at Qatar’s Ras Laffan terminal on June 1. With this movement, the number of LNG tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz since the onset of regional tensions has reached nine.
In addition, data from analytics firm Vortexa indicates that an empty LNG tanker, after discharging cargo in India, has re-entered the Strait of Hormuz.
Experts say these movements are being closely monitored due to their significance for global energy supply chains and maritime security.
