Sattar Bahlulzade’s painting “Evening on the Caspian” is regarded as one of the most poetic examples of an artistic approach to industrial landscapes in Azerbaijani visual art.

According to sea-news.az citing AZERTAG, in this work the artist presents Absheron’s oil derricks and platforms not as cold industrial structures, but as elements of a native landscape intertwined with the rhythm of nature. The contrast between the calm waters of the Caspian Sea stretching toward the horizon and the structures rising from the sea adds a distinctive lyrical quality to the painting.

On the canvas, oil platforms silhouetted in mist, a sky rendered in violet tones, and the play of light on the calm water surface create a romantic atmosphere. The movement of seagulls adds a sense of life within this stillness.

A defining feature of Bahlulzade’s style is precisely this: he portrays industrial themes not as harsh reality, but as aesthetic forms existing in harmony with nature.
