During the night of June 5, as a result of a drone attack on two cargo ships in the Sea of Azov, one of the Azerbaijani citizens killed was Mammad Ilham oglu Aliyev, a resident of the Aghasi Tala village in the Zagatala district, born in 1997.
According to sea-news.az citing Baku TV, reports that the deceased’s brother, Elvin Aliyev, commented on the incident.
Mammad Aliyev had been working in the maritime sector for many years and served as a chief officer (mate).
“My brother had been working in this field for more than five years. He was a chief officer. This morning I learned that he had passed away. A friend working on another ship called and delivered this heavy news to me. They said the body will be brought back in two days. As a brother, I am now waiting for his return. He was married and had one child,” he said.
It should be noted that two vessels carrying a total of 25 Azerbaijani citizens were struck during the incident. Several people were killed, while the injured were taken to hospitals. The investigation is ongoing.
