Azerbaijan has expanded cooperation with littoral states to address the declining water level of the Caspian Sea.
According to sea-news.az citing Report, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rashad Ismayilov provided the information during a speech at an event dedicated to World Environment Day held in Baku in partnership with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
The minister stated that Azerbaijan has established bilateral working groups with Caspian littoral countries — Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Russia.
He noted that the framework includes scientific study of Caspian Sea level fluctuations, data exchange, joint monitoring, and the development of adaptation measures.
Rashad Ismayilov emphasized that the declining water level of the Caspian Sea is an important challenge for regional environmental security, and that joint efforts in this direction will continue.
