Energy Bridge Between Azerbaijan and the United States

Speaking at the “Upstream – New Perspectives” session during the Baku Energy Forum, John Ardill, Vice President for Global Exploration at ExxonMobil Corporation, emphasized the importance of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States.

According to Ardill, joint activities in the energy sector contribute to strengthening the trusted partnership that has developed between the two countries:

“Our cooperation in the energy sector serves to further strengthen the reliable energy partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States.”

He noted that ExxonMobil is currently involved in the planning phase for the full-scale development of one of Azerbaijan’s most significant energy projects—the Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli (ACG) field complex:

“We are currently participating in the full-scale development planning phase of the ACG project. We are actively working on its future development prospects.”

The statement demonstrates that international energy companies continue to show strong interest in the long-term development of the ACG project and in maintaining Azerbaijan’s role in global energy markets.

At the same time, new agreements signed and discussions held during Baku Energy Week indicate that Azerbaijan–US energy relations are evolving beyond a traditional oil-and-gas partnership toward a broader framework of economic and strategic cooperation.
