Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, has stated that the energy partnership between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, built on strategic projects such as Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC), TANAP, and Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum, has been further strengthened through the Absheron gas agreement signed during Baku Energy Week.

In a post on the social media platform X, Bayraktar noted that he held a number of bilateral meetings with counterparts and representatives of international companies during the event and presented Türkiye’s vision for the energy sector at various sessions.

The minister emphasized that Türkiye’s key priority is to make a long-term contribution to the security of energy supply for both the country and the wider region as a reliable partner.

“We will continue with determination to strengthen our connections with neighboring countries in the fields of natural gas and electricity in order to enhance our regional resilience,” Bayraktar said.

As part of Baku Energy Week, SOCAR, TotalEnergies, XRG, and BOTAŞ signed a long-term agreement for the sale of a portion of the natural gas to be produced from the full-scale development of the Absheron gas-condensate field to the Turkish market.

Under the agreement, 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas, representing 50% of total production, will be supplied to Türkiye over a 15-year period.

In his post, Bayraktar stated:

“We have taken the strong bond we established between Türkiye and Azerbaijan through visionary projects such as Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan, TANAP, and Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum to an even higher level with the Absheron gas agreement witnessed today in Baku.”
