Japan-based meteorological and ocean data specialist Weathernews has launched a new mobile application called “SeaNavigator Mobile”, designed for shore-based maritime operations.
Developed for both iOS and Android platforms, the application integrates real-time vessel tracking, AIS-based alerts, and mobile approval of voyage plans into a single system.
According to the company, the new solution aims to replace time-consuming communication via phone and email, making maritime operations significantly faster and more efficient.
The system reportedly reduces the approval time for route changes from approximately 24 hours to around 30 minutes. It can also automatically detect abnormal vessel behavior, such as sudden speed drops or drifting conditions.
Weathernews also plans to expand the platform with additional features in the near future, including automatic voyage plan submission, route deviation alerts, and ETA change management.
