France’s aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle has entered the Arabian Sea after transiting the Suez Canal, according to French Armed Forces Minister Alice Rufo.
The minister stated that the presence of France’s flagship vessel in the region allows Paris to closely monitor developments in the regional security environment while also strengthening its diplomatic leverage.
It was noted that the deployment decision was announced on May 6 by French President Emmanuel Macron. The mission is being carried out as part of a joint Franco-British security initiative aimed at ensuring the safety of maritime navigation in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz.
