A representative of the State Maritime and Port Agency (SMPA) represented Azerbaijan at the 84th session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), held in London.
Farid Murtuzov, Head of the Marine Environment Protection Department of the Agency, participated in the event.
The session brought together representatives of IMO member states, relevant UN programs, specialized agencies and organizations, as well as observers from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations.
Discussions during the session focused on the prevention of air pollution, ship energy efficiency, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, combating plastic waste, and reducing underwater radiated noise generated by shipping activities.
Reports and work plans of the working groups were also reviewed, and relevant decisions were adopted at the conclusion of the session.
