The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has released updated figures on ongoing operations around the Strait of Hormuz via the social media platform X.
According to the statement, 52 commercial vessels have so far been either turned back or redirected to ports to ensure compliance with operational requirements.
Washington declared a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz on April 13. Following this, U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly instructed the Navy to open fire without warning on any vessel attempting to lay mines in the strait and to neutralize it.
General Dan Caine, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated that due to the blockade, more than 1,550 vessels carrying approximately 22,500 seafarers are currently unable to leave the Persian Gulf.
