The French Armed Forces General Staff announced via the social media platform X that an aircraft carrier strike group is moving toward the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The deployment comes amid shifting international conditions around the Strait of Hormuz and is intended to enhance operational readiness in the region.
According to BFMTV, the maneuver aims to enable faster response capabilities for potential multinational operations in the future and to reduce deployment time for naval forces.
The Elysee Palace stated that the presence of French forces in the region reflects readiness to contribute to maritime security efforts within coalition frameworks. The aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is expected to link up with allied forces in the area.
Frances Ministry of Defence added that the deployment will allow better assessment of operational conditions and support the preparation of alternative measures to ensure the safety of maritime trade routes.
