A giant yacht awaits its owner

Reports suggest that Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, is considering putting his $500 million megayacht Koru up for sale.

The decision is reportedly driven by the vessel’s constant public attention and the intense media scrutiny surrounding it.

At 127 meters in length, the three-masted Koru is considered one of the most distinctive superyachts in the world. Its bow features a gold-trimmed wooden figurehead of Lauren Sánchez Bezos and an extensive sail system.

The yacht typically operates alongside a $75 million support vessel, Abeona, which includes a helicopter landing pad. Operating costs are also significant, with annual maintenance reportedly reaching tens of millions of dollars. Due to its size, Koru cannot enter many private yacht marinas and is more often seen docked at commercial shipping ports.

During construction, the yacht also sparked public debate in Rotterdam when it was discovered that its masts would not clear the Koningshaven Bridge. While demolition of the bridge was briefly considered, an alternative solution was eventually implemented after public backlash.

There has been no official confirmation yet regarding the potential sale of Koru.
