Corvus Energy has obtained an official cybersecurity certification from the DNV classification society for its “Dolphin NxtGen” Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), marking an important step in strengthening digital safety standards in maritime transport.
As part of the certification process, more than 50 technical functions were independently reviewed by experts, including system architecture, access control mechanisms, data protection measures, and secure remote software updates. The assessment also covered the company’s “Lighthouse” digital platform used for vessel monitoring and diagnostics.
Experts note that the growing reliance on digital control systems in modern shipping is increasing cybersecurity risks. Energy storage systems on hybrid and zero-emission vessels are considered critical infrastructure, making protection against cyberattacks a key requirement for maritime safety.
Corvus Energy CEO Fredrik Vitelli stated that cybersecurity has become as essential as hardware reliability and plays a decisive role in building resilient safety systems within the maritime industry.
The company’s technologies are already used in a significant share of the world’s zero-emission vessels, and the new certification is seen as a contribution to raising cybersecurity standards across the shipping sector.
