Baku Shipyard LLC has signed a shipbuilding cooperation agreement with KTZ Express Shipping, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan’s Samruk-Kazyna JSC.

Under the agreement, two modern dry cargo vessels meeting international standards will be constructed.

Executive Director of AZCON Holding, Shahin Babayev, stated that expanding cooperation with international partners is one of the holding’s key priorities. He noted that the project is important both for showcasing existing technological capabilities and for advancing Azerbaijan’s shipbuilding industry. “We believe this cooperation will create a strong foundation for future successful projects,” he added.

Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna, Nurlan Zhakupov, emphasized that the development of maritime infrastructure is part of Kazakhstan’s broader strategy to enhance its transit potential. According to him, building a fleet for Kazakhstan Temir Zholy strengthens the sustainability of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, expands cargo transportation capacity, and creates additional opportunities to attract international partners.

The cooperation is particularly relevant amid growing cargo flows along the Middle Corridor. The project is expected to accelerate the development of the local shipbuilding industry, increase the yard’s production capacity, and enhance its competitiveness.

With this agreement, the number of vessels being built at Baku Shipyard under international orders has reached four, reflecting the company’s growing reputation and position as a reliable partner in the global market.
