Swedish Coast Guard has detained a tanker named Jin Hui.
Sweden’s Minister for Civil Defence, Carl-Oskar Bohlin, confirmed the information.
According to him, the vessel is suspected of operating under a falsified flag and may be linked to entities listed under sanctions by the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine.
The minister also stated that there are serious concerns regarding the vessel’s technical condition, insurance documentation, and overall legal status of operation.
The incident took place in Swedish territorial waters while the tanker was sailing in the Baltic Sea area. The vessel is currently held at the port of Trelleborg, where investigations are ongoing. Authorities also noted that the ship’s intended destination has not been clearly established.
