As part of efforts to develop the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) has placed new shipbuilding orders.
Specifically, “KTZ Express Shipping” has signed contracts for the construction of six universal dry cargo container vessels.
According to the agreements, four vessels will be built by “Jiangsu Haizhongzhou Shipping Industry Co., Ltd.”, while two vessels will be constructed at the Baku Shipyard.
The project aims to strengthen Kazakhstan’s position along the Trans-Caspian route and to establish a sustainable maritime component within the corridor.
The vessels, classified as “river-sea” type, will have a deadweight of up to 9,900 tons and a container capacity of up to 537 TEU.
