The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is proposing the creation of a new alliance involving other countries aimed at restoring uninterrupted navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The information was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing a diplomatic cable from the U.S. State Department.
According to the report, the initiative is named the “Maritime Freedom Construct.”
The diplomatic cable related to the proposal has been sent to U.S. embassies abroad. It calls on American diplomats to actively work to secure support from foreign governments and encourage them to join the new coalition.
