Position: Principal Piping Designer

•            Should be conversant in using AutoCAD / Microstation softwares

•            Understands detailed drawings and the required specification

•            Should be able to develop Equipment Layout / piping GADs/isometrics

•            Knowledge of piping materials To carry out design activities within an area of a project and ensure that the technical and safety integrity of the design is maintained and that the Company and Project procedures are adhered to

•            To be aware of and adhere to the Company values, systems and processes

•            To ensure that the work allocated is completed in compliance with Line Managers requirements

•            To ensure that the inter-discipline aspects of the design are addressed

•            The maintenance of professional standards with regard to both attitude and work

•            To coach less experienced members within the squad to assist with their development

•            The preparation of drawings and or modelling related to discipline in accordance with the agreed work scope, man-hours and schedule

•            The carrying out of Single Discipline checking of Designers and CAD Operators work in accordance with the Company / Project procedures

•            The carrying out of Onshore Site Surveys, as required, to assist in the initial workscope definition or the development of the design and the compilation of a survey report in accordance with the Company / Project procedures

•            Ensuring that the work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the current releases of any

•            Company / Client or Statutory Design Codes, Standards or Procedures

•            Review engineering request for process design activities

•            Collect all design information, submit requests to EDMS (existing drawings, P&ID, vessel passports)

• Identify date and time for  plant visit with responsible Project Engineer or Engineer Discipline

10 yrs Oil and Gas Experience in Brownfield Engineering and Management Demonstrable balance of industrial experience at relevant level and position

Safety by Design i.e. Understand and Apply Work Procedures and Practices, Compliance with Statutory Requirements, Discipline codes and standards

Technical Core Skills i.e. Knowledge, understanding and use of WGPSN procedures, Understanding of International and National codes and standards for pipework design & Procurement, Ability to read and understand Process deliverables required for Piping Design, i.e. P&ID’s. Line Lists, Data Sheets.

Piping Design i.e. Awareness of specific drawing requirements / presentation, Knowledge and understanding of CAD  software (Specify), Use of Dimensional Control Survey Data for Modelling & Clash Checking

Piping & Plant Layout i.e. Principles of good piping design (economy, ergonomics, common/consistent arrangements), Understanding of access and escape route requirements

Material Requisitioning

Pipe Material & Fittings i.e. Specification and selection of Manual Valves, Specification of pipe, flanges and fittings

Pipe Supports i.e. Knowledge and understanding of pipe support structures, Knowledge and understanding of pipe support loads & functions Pipework Fabrication, Procurement & Construction Practice i.e. Ability to compile Construction workpacks, Understanding of close-out requirements
