    In the reputable event where our country was represented by the delegation led by the Head of the State Maritime Administration, Mr. Gudrat Gurbanov, first participation of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been positively evaluated and with certainty noted that this participation in the future will successfully contribute to the development of the beneficial mutual cooperation.  The joining of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982 has been highly estimated by the Secretary General of the International Seabed Authority, Mr. Michael Lodge.

    During the meeting have been elected 7 members of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and 20 members of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, has been delivered the report of the external auditor for the financial period 2015 – 2016, report on budgetary matters for the financial period 2015 – 2016, report by the Credentials Committee, report of the Chair of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, have been discussed the updates by the Secretariat on the UN policy concerning official documents, budgetary matters of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, other matters of the Secretariat, the list of International Government Organizations to receive a standing invitation on the basis of the decision by the 26th Meeting of States Parties as well as updates concerning trust funds and fellowship managed by the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS).

    Head of the State Maritime Administration – Mr. Gudrat Gurbanov, leading the Azerbaijani delegation held bilateral meetings with the delegations of several States Parties to the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea. During the meetings took place the exchange of views on several important matters significant for our country concerning the efficient and effective implementation of mutual cooperation.
