According to the message, during the talks with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev, President Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are neighboring countries and cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats is an important factor of turning the Caspian Sea into an area of peace, good-neighborliness, harmony and mutually beneficial partnership.

The experts estimate the total hydrocarbon reserves in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea at 18.2 billion tons of equivalent fuel.

The EU, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are negotiating on the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project, which could bring the Caspian resources to the European market.
