On 7 and 9 March of the current year in the State Maritime Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held the seminar on “Truly cases on administrative sanction procedure about different kinds of ships” within the Twinning Project “Support to the State Maritime Administration to Improve Liability in Maritime Transport in the Republic of Azerbaijan” funded by the European Union. The main purpose of this Project is to increase the capacity of the State Maritime Administration in the implementation and application of liability procedures foreseen in the International Conventions concerning maritime safety and prevention of sea pollution in Azerbaijan in conjunction with the legislation of European Union.
During the seminar the Spanish professor experts – Mrs. I.G.Fernandez, captain L.Fernandez and R.Pastor gave detailed information about Spanish administrative violation system and procedures, violations to the Spanish Merchant Shipping Code, detection of the violation, elimination of corruption and ensuring transparency in the field of maritime transport, denunciation from individuals, agents of authority, Search and Rescue Agency personnel and the use of specialized systems, as well as were held practical cases on sea pollution, port state control and International Maritime Labour Convention.
Along with the employees of the State Maritime Administration and Maritime Safety Center under the State Maritime Administration, seafarers, representatives from civil societies and postgraduates of the faculty of Maritime and Energy Law of the Baku State University also participated in the seminar. The participants were presented with certificates at the end of the seminar.
