The Singapore-flagged container ship “GFS Pride,” carrying thousands of smartphones and luxury perfumes, has sunk in the Strait of Hormuz. Following the incident, footage surfaced on social media showing local residents off the coast of Oman retrieving floating cargo from the water.
Sea-news.az reports that citing C14, the vessel departed from the UAE carrying approximately 2,500 containers from Dubai.
Although all 21 crew members were safely rescued, conflicting reports remain regarding the cause of the sinking. International sources suggest the ship was struck by a missile or drone, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims the vessel strayed from its designated shipping route and struck a sea mine.
