Iran claims its armed forces maintain full control over the Strait of Hormuz, a statement promptly refuted by US Central Command (CENTCOM).
Sea-news.az reports that citing the Tasnim news agency, Iranian Army Commander Lieutenant General Amir Hatami stated that the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman remain under total Iranian control, preventing any hostile vessels from entering the area.
Conversely, CENTCOM issued a statement on X dismissing the IRGC’s claims as false, confirming that the US and regional partners maintain maritime security in the strait, with over 40 commercial vessels safely transiting in the last 24 hours. Furthermore, CENTCOM rejected the IRGC’s assertion that the commercial container ship “M/V GFS Pride” struck a sea mine, clarifying that the vessel was hit by an IRGC projectile.
