International transport corridors should complement one another rather than compete. The development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) relies not only on building new railways and ports, but also on establishing sustainable cargo flows and securing economic dividends.
Sea-news.az reports that Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Transport Zhanibek Taizhanov highlighted these points at the “TransLogistica Kazakhstan 2026” exhibition.
He stated that by upgrading its transport infrastructure along the Caspian Sea coast, Kazakhstan plans to increase transit cargo volume to 67 million tons by 2030. Speaking at the event, Aleksandr Nepochatov, a representative of a Latvian international freight company, noted that orders for cargo transport from Europe to Central Asia via the Caspian Sea have surged by 70 percent compared to 2024, emphasizing the urgent need to expand Middle Corridor infrastructure to handle the growing demand seamlessly.
