The competitiveness of the Middle Corridor should be evaluated comprehensively rather than being limited solely to the improvement of individual infrastructure facilities.
Sea-news.az reports that this statement was made by Perhat Yagshyev, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, at the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026).
“The competitiveness of the Middle Corridor must be viewed in a comprehensive manner. This entails not only enhancing individual segments of infrastructure, but also forming a unified, coordinated, and predictable transport and logistics system,” he noted.
P. Yagshyev highlighted the modernization of physical infrastructure—including railways, highways, ports, and terminals—as well as increasing their throughput capacity among the key priorities for the route’s development.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of boosting the speed of cargo transportation and ensuring the predictability of processes.
“To accomplish this task, it is necessary to continue harmonizing tariff policies, movement schedules, and cargo handling procedures,” P. Yagshyev stated.
