The Handysize dry cargo vessel Murovdag, operated by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC (ASCO), an entity of AZCON Holding, is currently undertaking another international voyage.
Sea-news.az reports citing ASCO, that the vessel is journeying from the Port of Antofagasta in Chile to the Port of Antwerp in Belgium. Out of its 33-day voyage, 17 days have already passed. During this period, the Murovdag navigated through the Strait of Magellan—one of the world’s most vital maritime routes—and is currently continuing its route across the Atlantic Ocean. The Murovdag departed from the Port of Antofagasta carrying 33,134 tons of zinc cargo.
The vessel’s long-distance ocean route from South America to Europe serves as another prime example of the ASCO fleet’s active participation in international cargo transportation outside the Caspian basin.
It should be noted that the continuous-voyage-capable Murovdag has a deadweight capacity of 38,000 tons. The ship has a maximum speed of 14.3 knots, a length of 180 meters, a breadth of 30 meters, a depth of 15 meters, and a maximum draft of 10.47 meters. The optimal draft of the Murovdag allows it to easily enter a number of shallow-water ports even when fully loaded.
