The art that turns moments into history

Every year on August 19, the world celebrates World Photography Day, one of the most important fields of visual memory and art. Photography is a unique form of art that captures moments, emotions, and historical events through frames, passing them down to future generations.

Sea-news.az reports citing the “Surakhani” Ship Museum, that sailors working in the open sea, under complex weather conditions, and in challenging navigational environments can also be considered unique representatives of this art. Their lenses capture many rare and unforgettable moments—ranging from sunrises and sunsets to sea storms, port operations, and the tense, daily labor processes aboard ship.

The “Surakhani” Ship Museum of “Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping” CJSC (ASCO) pays special attention to photography-related projects aimed at promoting maritime heritage and the labor of sailors. Photo contests organized over the years have provided an opportunity to present the Caspian Sea and shipping life from a different perspective.

Young volunteers of the “Surakhani” Ship Museum also actively participate in creative projects organized by the center, showcasing their perspectives and the maritime world through photography.
