Happy June 25 — International Day of the Seafarer!

109

Today, June 25, is the International Day of the Seafarer. Established on the initiative of the United Nations International Maritime Organization, this day is a symbol of respect for the people who play an unparalleled role in the development of world shipping. Although the labor of these individuals—who stay away from their families for months, celebrate holidays at sea, and bear immense responsibility under harsh conditions—often goes unnoticed, the world could not stand still for even a single day without them.

Behind maritime transport, which accounts for more than 90% of world trade, stand people who sacrifice their own comfort, know no difference between night and day, and never leave their jobs incomplete. They contribute to the continuous operation of the global economy by working for months in the open sea, under challenging climatic conditions, and far away from their families. This is precisely why seafaring is not just a profession—it is selflessness, it is an honorable way of life.

Today is also a day to honor the memory of seafarers who lost their lives during their service. Remembering the precious memory of these individuals who passed away in the line of duty with deep respect, we wish patience and fortitude to their families and loved ones. Their memory continues to live on in every wave and on every horizon.

As the “Support to Azerbaijan Seafarers” Public Union, we declare that our activities aimed at protecting the rights of seafarers, improving their social welfare, and increasing their professional prestige will continue henceforth. We reaffirm that we stand by each and every one of our fellow seafarers. Today and every day — we are by your side.

We sincerely congratulate all our seafarers on the occasion of the International Day of the Seafarer, and wish them robust health, family happiness, and new successes in their professional activities. Return safe and sound.
