The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that a cargo vessel sailing toward an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman was struck on May 29.

According to the statement, the engine room of the Gambia-flagged cargo vessel Liam Star was hit by a Hellfire missile launched from a U.S. aircraft. As a result, the 1,600-ton vessel was left disabled and adrift at sea.

CENTCOM stated that the ship had received more than 20 warnings for allegedly violating the U.S. blockade. AIS tracking data reportedly indicated that the vessel was sailing from Pakistan toward Iraq at the time of the incident.
