A man in the U.S. state of Texas has been arrested for violating waterway safety regulations after driving a Tesla Cybertruck into a lake.

The incident took place at Grapevine Lake. According to reports, 70-year-old Jimmy Jack McDaniel drove the vehicle into the water to test the Cybertruck’s “Wade Mode” feature, but the vehicle took on water and became partially submerged.

Police stated that the driver is facing charges for entering a restricted area, operating without life jackets and firefighting equipment, and using an unregistered “watercraft.”

Rescue teams later removed the vehicle from the lake. The driver reportedly said he had conducted similar tests before.

Although Tesla says the Cybertruck is capable of traveling through shallow water, the company also notes that water-related damage is not covered under warranty.
