Digital certification system expands in maritime industry

Idsure, a company developing digital identity and certification infrastructure for the maritime sector, has secured an initial investment of €600,000.

The funding will be used to expand cooperation with flag states and training centers, as well as to develop digital services for seafarers and ship managers.

The company’s platform is built on a blockchain-secured certification system combined with aviation-grade identity verification technology. The system enables the creation of tamper-proof digital documents that can be quickly verified through QR codes.

Idsure states that the platform has been developed in compliance with the STCW Convention and International Labour Organization requirements.

Among the project’s first implementations are digital seafarer books in partnership with the Bahamas Maritime Authority, a crew certification pilot project with Columbia Shipmanagement, and cooperation with SITA on identity infrastructure solutions.
