A new study by the global risk management agency Achilles has revealed that supply chain oversight in the maritime transport sector remains insufficient.
According to the survey, 75% of participating companies reported only partial or limited visibility across their supply chains. More than half of respondents expect risks to increase further over the next two years.
The report notes that disruptions in the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz have already caused losses exceeding $10 million for several companies due to route diversions.
At the same time, more than 75% of companies are testing artificial intelligence solutions to improve operational efficiency, although the adoption of these technologies is still at an early stage.
The study also highlights that the main driving force behind environmental and emissions reduction initiatives in the maritime sector is increasingly customer demand rather than regulatory pressure.
