Relevant state agencies have inspected the area and launched an investigation following the death of a small number (20–30) of fish on the seashore of Mardakan settlement in Baku’s Khazar district.
Sea-news.az reports this information was provided by the Center for Fisheries and Aquaculture under the Ministry of Agriculture in response to an inquiry from Oxu.Az.
It was noted that, based on initial reports, specialists from the Center for Fisheries and Aquaculture, the Agrarian Services Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute under the Food Safety Agency inspected the site and examined the situation.
“During the site inspection, it was not possible to collect fish samples due to decomposition and decay resulting from the fish remaining on the shore for an extended period. However, seawater samples were taken and submitted accordingly for laboratory examination. Investigations involving relevant authorities are currently ongoing to determine the potential factors that caused the fish mortality. Analyzing the laboratory results of the collected water samples is crucial for clarifying the possible causes of the incident. Additional information regarding the causes will be released to the public once the results of the laboratory tests and investigations become available,” the statement read.
