Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that a container ship attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz sank after striking a naval mine.

Sea-news.az reports citing the Al-Hadath news channel, the IRGC stated that the vessel was navigating an unauthorized and hazardous route when it hit a mine, triggering a severe fire. Carrying over 2,500 containers, the ship subsequently sank in the southern waters of the strait.

This marks the fourth similar incident reported in the region within the current week. Iranian authorities have not disclosed the vessel’s name, flag state, or the status of its crew, and independent verification of the incident remains unavailable.
