Six years have passed since the city of Ganja was subjected to its first missile attack by the Armenian Armed Forces during the Second Karabakh War.
Sea-news.az recalls that on October 4, 2020, at around 10:00 AM, missiles fired by Armenia struck a civilian residential area in Azerbaijan’s second-largest city, including a two-story residential building and private homes.
The missile strike by Armenia marked the first major attack launched outside the Karabakh war zone. As a result of the shelling of Ganja, a civilian named Aliyev Tunar Goshgar oglu was killed, and 32 civilians were injured. Along with residential houses, damage was inflicted on civilian infrastructure and ancient historical structures.
It may be recalled that during the Second Karabakh War, the Armenian Armed Forces attacked the city of Ganja a total of five times—on October 4, 5, 8, 11, and 17—using missiles and heavy artillery.
Consequently, 26 people were killed, and 175 were injured. Extensive damage was also caused to civilian infrastructure and vehicles located in the city.
