bp has successfully completed the Central Azeri Gas Expansion (CAGE) project executed at the Central Azeri platform.

Sea-news.az reports that as a result of the project, the platform’s gas reinjection capacity has been increased by 20 percent. This will help maximize oil recovery from existing wells.

Offshore operations for the project commenced in January of this year and were completed safely ahead of schedule in September. As part of the project, internal rotating bundles and auxiliary components of the platform’s four existing gas injection compressors were replaced and substantially modernized. These works were carried out while ensuring uninterrupted platform operations—without requiring a production shutdown or additional gas flaring.

Additionally, to support the increased gas reinjection capacity and enhance operational flexibility, modifications were implemented in the manifold piping system on the compressor suction line. These modifications were carried out in August during the planned maintenance program on the Central Azeri platform, followed by the completion of all remaining final project activities.

By supporting enhanced reservoir management, the CAGE project contributes to efforts aimed at maximizing oil recovery from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field and ensuring long-term production sustainability.
