NEW PLAN Regarding the Caspian

With the expansion of the boulevard along the Caspian coast, Baku’s access to the Caspian Sea will be provided through a large public space.

Sea-news.az reports that Khanlar Agalarov, Chairman of the Board of the Seaside Boulevard Department, stated that the Baku Boulevard is planned to be transformed in the future into a major public corridor and green belt connecting various areas of the city, such as Zigh and Bibiheybat.

According to him, the expansion of the boulevard is of great importance for strengthening the connection between Baku and the Caspian Sea. As the city’s history, economy, and identity are closely tied to the Caspian Sea, expanding the coastal boulevard and green belt will further enhance Baku’s access to the sea.

Khanlar Agalarov noted that the project also holds great significance in terms of environmental and climate resilience. Developing blue and green infrastructure—namely water bodies and green areas—within a unified system can positively impact the city’s microclimate, air quality, biodiversity, and public access to natural areas.
