On September 19–20, the transit of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz decreased threefold compared to the previous weekend.

Sea-news.az reports citing data from the analytical company “Kpler,” that only 12 vessels passed through the strait last weekend. On September 12–13, 35 vessels transited through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the report, prior to the outbreak of the conflict between the US and Iran, approximately 125 vessels used to pass through the Strait of Hormuz daily.

To recap, on July 8, US President Donald Trump declared that the ceasefire had been violated and ordered new strikes against Iran. In response, Iran targeted US military facilities in the Persian Gulf region with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

While Washington does not rule out the possibility of Iran returning to negotiations, disagreements regarding the security of the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear program, and other issues leave the future of the peace process uncertain.

Based on the text, commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz is currently facing severe restrictions once again.
