A vessel has run aground along the coastline of the Gulf of Ob within Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, resulting in the death of the ship’s captain.
Sea-news.az reports citing Russian media and the Ural Transport Prosecutor’s Office, that the incident involving the ST-1 vessel occurred on the morning of September 12.
Two crew members were on board at the time of the grounding. The captain succumbed to injuries at the scene.
The Novy Urengoy Transport Prosecutor’s Office has launched an inspection into compliance with navigation safety legislation to determine the exact causes and circumstances leading up to the accident. Investigative authorities are continuing their preliminary inquiries.
