“Sunken village” emerges once again

As water levels recede at the Kasimlar Dam in Turkey’s Isparta province, the “sunken village” has once again emerged into view.

Sea-news.az reports that the flooded village of Daribuku, located in Isparta’s Sutculer district, presents a striking scene reminiscent of a cinematic film setting. Daribuku was submerged following the completion of the Kasimlar Dam in 2016 along the Koprucay River, which originates in the Aksu and Egirdir districts.

Particularly during the summer and autumn months as water levels drop, the village’s historic stone houses, mosque, school, old buildings, and electrical poles reappear. The remnants preserving the village’s past have been captured on video, making the location a popular destination for nature and photography enthusiasts seeking unique seasonal landscapes.
