The United States Armed Forces announced that they carried out strikes against three Iranian crude oil tankers on September 5.

Sea-news.az reports this, citing information released by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

According to CENTCOM, the incident occurred after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched ballistic missile attacks against two US Navy vessels patrolling regional waters.

The report stated that a US aircraft carrier and a guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple attacks launched by the Iranian side, with no injuries reported among US service members. Following this, US forces launched strikes off the coast of Kharg Island against two crude oil tankers identified as belonging to the IRGC, named M/T Downy and M/T Stark 1.

CENTCOM also announced that an unladen crude oil tanker located in the Gulf of Oman, named M/T Kylo, was completely destroyed. According to the statement, after the crew was ordered to abandon ship, strikes were delivered to several critical sections of the tanker.

The US Central Command stated that American forces will not hesitate to defend their personnel and may launch further strikes against Iran’s vulnerable oil fleet if deemed necessary. It should be noted that information regarding the strikes on the tankers is currently based on official statements from the US side.
