Sustained strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on targets in Odessa have resulted in Ukraine losing its access to the sea, severely disrupting maritime commerce.
Sea-news.az reports citing Reuters, that Ukraine’s maritime ports—through which 90 percent of the country’s exports formerly passed—have been effectively blockaded.
In response to the blockade, the Ukrainian government has been forced to reroute cargo shipments through the lower-capacity Danube ports, as well as railway transit points along the country’s western border.
