A fatal accident has occurred at platform No. 50 in the Western Absheron oil field located in the Caspian Sea.
Sea-news.az reports citing Qafqazinfo, that Nizami Abbasov, a mechanic and employee of SOCAR CPS (SOCAR AQŞ), lost his life as a result of the incident.
According to the reports, the accident took place when a lifting crane collapsed on top of the worker. Mirvari Gahramanli, chairperson of the Oilworkers’ Rights Protection Committee, brought the incident to public attention.
In response to an inquiry by APA, SOCAR CPS stated that relevant authorities are currently investigating the accident. Further details regarding the incident and the exact causes of the collapse will be made public once the investigation concludes.
