A five-day search and rescue operation off the coast of Mexico has concluded successfully. Two men who had been out of contact since August 14 have been found alive. According to Navy officials, the fishermen were discovered approximately 150 miles off the coast of Chiapas as a result of a joint operation involving aircraft and vessels.

Sea-news.az reports that this was published by the Need to Know publication.

The unusual device that saved their lives was a large blue refrigerator container that kept them afloat on the water. Footage captured by the crew of a patrol boat shows this container rocking over ocean waves. It was precisely this box that prevented the fishermen from drowning in the open sea.

The rescued men were hoisted aboard the naval vessel and provided with initial medical aid. One of the fishermen was severely exhausted from his prolonged time in the water, requiring him to be transported on a stretcher.

Following medical evaluations, both individuals were brought ashore and reunited with their family members. An investigation into what precisely happened to their boat is currently ongoing.
