Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), visited the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln upon its return from the Middle East following a prolonged tour of duty.

Sea-news.az reports this citing The Wall Street Journal.

The visit took place against the backdrop of complaints from the crew regarding service conditions. The aircraft carrier has been stationed in the region since the launch of US and Israel military operations against Iran, during which time it did not enter ports. Sailors reported shortages of fresh food and personal hygiene products, water supply issues, as well as a deterioration in the psychological state of some crew members.

Publications such as Navy Times and Stars and Stripes reported that amid the extended deployment and deteriorating conditions, several suicide attempts were recorded among sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Meanwhile, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth disagreed with claims concerning the poor conditions on the ship.
