The water level in the Loire River in France has dropped to a critical level.

Sea-news.az reports that due to heat and drought, the riverbed is becoming increasingly exposed day by day.

According to Jean-Paul Guéant, the mayor of La Loire-sur-Rhône (Loir-sur-Seine / local town), the difference between the current water level and the figure recorded in February, when a historical flood was registered in the region, is 8 to 9 meters.

He also expressed concern that if no precipitation falls in the near future, temporary restrictions on the use of drinking water might be applied in the city.

It was noted that the shallowing of the Loire, like other major European rivers including the Rhine and the Danube, is related to insufficient rainfall and anomalous hot weather observed in recent months.
