Against the backdrop of ongoing geopolitical tension in the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf, the movement of commercial vessels through strategic maritime corridors is resuming. Over the past 24 hours, at least 10 merchant ships have carried out a safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
Sea-news.az reports that CNN television channel shared this information, citing data from the international live ship-tracking “MarineTraffic” radars and maritime navigation services.
According to navigation data, the movement directions of the vessels passing through the strait were as follows:
- Entering the Persian Gulf: 7 large cargo and container ships;
- Heading towards the Gulf of Oman: 3 commercial vessels.
In addition, over the past 24 hours, at least 19 commercial sea vessels also transited through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, another strategic water passage.
To recall, prior to this, Esmaeil Baghai, the official representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Tehran and Muscat had agreed on the geographical coordinates of a new maritime route that will ensure navigational safety through the Strait of Hormuz. The agreed secure maritime corridors serve to reduce commercial shipping risks in the region.
