Iran and Oman have agreed on the geographical coordinates of the new route passing through the Strait of Hormuz. A joint statement regarding this matter may be published in the near future.
Sea-news.az reports citing TASS, that this was stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry representative Esmaeil Baghai.
“The geographical parameters of the route considered by the parties have been agreed upon, and if certain third parties do not create obstacles in this matter, a joint statement reflecting the main provisions and key points agreed upon by the two countries is also at the final review and preparation stage,” he emphasized.
Earlier, Iran’s state television and radio corporation, citing a source, reported that the future agreement to be signed between Oman and Iran does not imply the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and this issue will depend on the steps to be taken by the US.
