Construction and assembly work on the offshore section of the Trans-Caspian submarine fiber-optic communication line (FOCL), considered one of the largest megaprojects in the region’s telecommunications sector, laid along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, has been successfully completed.
According to information provided by sea-news.az citing the official information portal of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, the submarine cable network crossed the Caspian waters and was safely delivered and landed on the Kazakh coast. With this, the most complex and responsible hydrotechnical phase of the strategic marine project implemented in partnership between “Kazakhtelecom” JSC and “AzerTelecom International” has been finalized.
- Asia-Europe digital bridge: Connecting the Aktau and Sumgayit marine terminals, the line will become a major digital corridor ensuring the high-speed and direct transmission of data between Asia and Europe.
- Geopolitical and transit independence: This transnational line passing through the Caspian will connect the digital infrastructure of the two countries, increasing the reliability of international maritime and land communication networks and further strengthening the transit potential of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
