The Spanish Maritime Rescue Service has discovered a boat left helpless in the open sea off the coast of Mallorca, one of the Balearic Islands. The lifeless bodies of 17 migrants were found on board the boat.
Sea-news.az reports that local maritime authorities stated the migrants lost their lives while trying to reach the shores of the Balearic Islands after spending 15 days in the open sea.
Only two people could be rescued alive from the boat detained by maritime patrol services in the southwestern waters of Mallorca. They were urgently evacuated to a hospital by a marine rescue helicopter with symptoms of severe dehydration and exhaustion.
In addition, on Tuesday morning, maritime security forces discovered another migrant boat 48 kilometers southwest of the island of Ibiza and rescued 15 people from drowning at sea.
